Reducing food loss and environmental impact

Provision of boxed lunches with biodoors (to be prepared and provided after receiving an order) eliminates waste and leads to a reduction in food waste. In addition to using unwashed rice for boxed lunches, which contributes to water conservation, the company also contributes to reducing the pollutant of rice bakery juice and reducing CO2 discharged from sewage treatment of bamboo juice.
Reducing CO2 in MAPKA® Containers

Plastic use

We are also working to reduce environmental impact by introducing wooden spoons and plastic bags using biomass polyethylene. In addition to the chopsticks and wooden spoon bags offered together with box lunch lunches, we have also changed from conventional plastic to paper-based containers for miso juice. Offshore pollution caused by plastic waste is an urgent issue that must be addressed internationally, and we will continue our efforts to protect the environment.
Introduction of garbage bags that use 99% of waste plastic

In September 2021, we introduced garbage bags containing 99% waste plastic at our Hokka-Hokka Tei stores. By using garbage bags recycled from used polyethylene film at each store, we are realizing a contribution to a "recycling-oriented society" with the aim of efficiently using limited resources. We expect to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 67 tons per year by recovering polyethylene, which was traditionally disposed of as waste and discharged as CO2 by incineration, and reusing it as a resource.
Promote effective use of resources and reduction of waste through rental business

Through our rental business, we are promoting the effective use of limited resources and the reduction of waste, thereby contributing to the safety and security of the global environment and society. In order to reduce natural disasters caused by climate change, we are promoting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by introducing equipment with low environmental impact and reviewing in-house facilities.
Introduction of solar cell power generation systems

We are introducing a solar power generation system at the Hokka-Hokka Tei food processing and logistics center. Through these efforts, we are able to reduce CO2 emissions by 116.8 tonnes per year.
